Fire Engine Lantern

Meredith Historical Society

The Wamesit #3 Engine Lantern comes from the Wamesit Fire Engine at the Meredith Fire Station. It stands approximately 13 inches high and is engraved with the word "Wamesit," derived from a former Indian tribe that lived in the area of Lowell, Massachusetts. Meredith purchased the Wamesit hand tub from Lowell in the mid-19th century.
