Meredith Historical Society

What does the Historical Society do with a walk-in safe? Our museum is the original home of the Meredith Village Savings Bank started by Seneca Ladd in 1869. The Bank moved in 1924, and the very sturdy safe remains as apart of our museum. It is now the display area for our collection of fans. We have many varieties from hand-painted transparent silk to paper ones with make-believe feathers and some with real feathers. Spines can be bamboo, ivory-like or fine wood. Sizes can range from 12 to 24 inches extended and 10 to 24 inches tall. The colorful decoration is either hand painted or printed.
